One thing I value the most during the holiday season is making new memories with our kids. But the second thing is being comfortable in our home. I spend a lot of time thinking about the menu (check out my Ron Ponche recipe,) but I need to start thinking about what we are wearing Christmas day.

Over the years we have done a really great job creating new holiday traditions as a family. Before having kids, we would have to coordinate Christmas party outfits, and it was so much fun! From ugly Christmas sweater bowling parties to little black dress attire. I have always done such an amazing job coordinating the best Christmas outfits. However, this festive season, for our family mental health we have decided to keep our holidays lowkey and as stress free as possible. Sometimes (a lot of the time) that means staying home and not visiting other people’s houses. My anxiety gets out of control when I have to think about how to maneuver my son’s sensory needs. No matter if we stay home or go out, I have to always figure out what to wear to Christmas dinner.
What should you wear to a Christmas dinner?
It’s a good idea to think about is what the dress code is for the dinner. I honestly can’t help myself and even though I tell myself every year we are going to wear cozy outfits. However, I always overdo it. I mean what other chance am I going to get to chronicle the occasion and take all of the pictures I want around the Christmas tree. My husband’s go to for any occasion is a nice button-down shirt (or any dress shirt) with a pair of jeans for a casual outfit.
What do you wear to a casual family Christmas dinner?
If you are going for a more casual look a sweater dress is always a good choice. Sweater dresses look good on all body types. But most importantly is they are really comfortable, so you can eat as much as you want. Because priorities you know. I love pairing sweater dresses with knee boots. However, you can pair it with high heels and a leather jacket for a little warmth.

Every fall I make sure to get my husband a few new sweaters. He can pair them with blue jeans for a casual Christmas morning look. Or you can pair them with slacks or pants for a more formal look.

Can I wear black for Christmas dinner?
A little black dress is a must for every closet so not only is this the perfect outfit for holiday dinner. But you might not even have to go shopping for anything to wear. Black makes for a best outfit because it’s so sleek and sexy. You can create such a classic look with Black whether it be with leather pants and a black clutch. Or black jeans paired with a pop of bright color for the office Christmas party.

If you and your partner decide to coordinate for an all-black affair it will make for an elegant look. I remember the first year we did holiday/maternity photos I chose all black because it was so simple, and you honestly can’t go wrong with black any time of year.
What do you wear to a formal Christmas party?
If you are looking for Christmas dinner outfits that are a little dressier or for a special event. Try a velvet dress. Whenever I think of Christmas gatherings I always think of velvet. Especially if it’s a red dress. This red dress is an impeccable christmas dinner outfit.

What to wear for Christmas lunch at work?
Whenever I think of a company holiday party or a luncheon, I think of doing a little bit more than I would do for work without being too formal. Your coworkers might not get to see you outside of work or you could be a person who wears a uniform so this could be your time to shine. So, step it up a little.
