Usually Courtney and I like to do the Date Night In boxes, but this month we decided to try out the Kids Night In box.

What Is Date Night In?

Date Night In is a subscription box service that sends you a date filled with fun, unique, and spontaneous date night items, ideas, and activities. Every month has a new theme. Each box comes with everything you need for your date so that you can enjoy it in the comfort of your home. They also have a Faith Night In box and a Kids Night In box. This month’s theme for the Kids night in is “Day at the Farm.”

Read Your Included Book

Included is a book called “A Busy Day At The Farm.” The animals on Farmer Brown’s farm have a busy schedule. They eat breakfast, exercise, have picnics, even take bubble baths! The book also includes stickers so your kids can create their own farmyard scenes.

Make Egg Carton Animals

There was so much included in this month’s box for the arts and crafts. Santana and I made some of the animals from the book out of egg cartons. The options were pig, cow, sheep, and duck. I’m glad the directions on what to do came with the booklet which is included with your box. Since my son is only 2 a big mess was made, however he wanted to do everything by his self. Tip: paint all of your egg cartons first so they have time to dry while you work your way through. Note: I feel like the ears of the animals belonged on the same side. Maybe we did something wrong. Lol!

Farm Animal Yoga

The only yoga I’ve actually done is Bikram yoga. However if I were going to do some moves that were tailored to include my son then this would be it. All of the moves are simple enough for the kids to do. My son isn’t really coordinated yet so he had a little trouble. He honestly just wanted to lay there while I did this part!

Snack and Relax

In the book the animals drank all of Farmer Brown’s lemonade! So it’s only right they included some lemonade and a snack. My son actually doesn’t like anything except water and milk. We try to keep his sugar to a minimum. So he ate the animal crackers, and drank water instead.

Create Your Sticker Farm

My son loves putting stickers everywhere except for where they belong. This time wasn’t any different. So even though some of them ended up on the sticker farm, most of them ended up on him and my walls!

Farm Animal Hoedown

Santana usually doesn’t like anything on his head, But he has big hair! So when he actually pulled the pig visor and wanted to put it on his head I was pleasantly surprised. He loves when I make animal sounds so I oinked like a pig and quacked like a duck and he went crazy.

Food and Music

When you get the email notification that your box is on the way they also give you meal instructions. You go to the website to get a recipe/shopping list that is related to the box’s theme. It was taco Tuesday in our house so we decided not to make the awesome looking barnyard bagels by Marina from marinamakesblog.com. There was also a playlist put together but we already had our own spotify playlist playing.

So Did We Like It?

It’s safe to say we had a great time doing the activities in this month’s box. My son likes anything that is hands on and they did a great job putting thought and effort into this box. Since my son is a little bit younger than I’ve seen some of the other kids who have gotten the box I had to help him a lot. But I think that’s what made it even more special. Even though he wanted to be a big boy and do it all his self he still needed his mommy.
